Everyone knows 2007 is going to be the year of the Hoff. And there's no WAY you've missed out on his "Jump In My Car" video and its slightly eerie use of special effects to promote picking up hookers (and then kiling them).

So, as you've already seen it, I'm not going to reproduce it here. No sir. Instead I'm going to treat you to one of David's other bizarro musical masterpieces. It's quite amazing what one man with little or no talent beyond that of self promotion can achieve in a demo copy of Adobe Premiere, isn't it? I can just picture Hoff setting up his green screen equipment by draping some bedsheet over his washing line, filming himself doing his thang, and then pushing it all through his low to mid range home PC to produce this gem. I'm betting the "wirework" was achieved using a childs swing set, which he simply editted out as it was conveniently all one colour. But what's with that thing with the big eyes? WTF? Hasslehoff - you might be "high on believing", but I reckon that you've cut your believing with some crack cocaine.

Steve Irwin (the Crocodile Agitator) has been killed. Seems he was swimming with stingray as part of a show he was filming, when a 'ray jabbed him through the heart with its tail barb. Game Over. Now, whilst this is tragic news, it's also great news. With Steve being the worldwide recognisable icon that he was, the internet has become awash with loads of content focussing on him. It's a legitimate internet meme. And so it can be featured here. Yay!

YTMND, for example, only had about 10 results this morning for a search on Steve Irwin. There's now 9 full pages comprising something like near 400 results. In the words of the great man himself - Crikey!

There's always two sides to a coin, and whilst there's plenty of stuff being produced that show reverance and respect for Steve, how he entertained, and what he achieved in terms of wildlife conservation, there's also those who've gone the route of getting a cheap laugh. Can you guess which one's I'll be focussing on?

I think Steve would be proud that even in death he's managing to entertain, and his meme is probably the fastest spreading one I've seen - his Wikipedia page was defaced with a "Steve Irwin's dead! Homestar Runner is a series of flash cartoons and games that loosly focus on Homestar Runner and his colleagues - namely Marzipan, The Cheat, Strong Bad, Strong Sad and Strong Mad, Pom Pom, Bubs, Coach Z, the King of Town and the Poopsmith (amongst others) and their bizarre adventures.

The highlight of the site though are Strong Bad's emails. Here he answers questions sent in to him from site visitors and hilarity ensues. It's very, very much a cult thing, and you really have to start at the beginning to appreciate a lot of the in-jokes. Given that there's well over 130 Strong Bad emails, that's quite an investment of time - but you won't be disappointed.

There's an awful lot of pop culture (mostly focussing on old video games and 80's stuff) crammed in here, but there's also been an awful lot of it created on this very site. Homestar's had mentions in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, featured in They Might Be Giants music videos, and spawned a bunch of great catchphrases, such as "Your Head A Splode", and "Crapfully Yours".

The fantastic http://www.superdickery.com/ contains some golden/silver age comic panels that are an excellent window into history. Split into sub-sections that focus on war propoganda, racism, sexism, and plenty of other areas that the PC (kinda) comics of today just wouldn't get away with, it's the sort of stuff that makes you wonder why the comics code focussed on banning mention of zombies and werewolves rather than telling DC off for promoting violence and racial hatred against REAL people.

And yes, since you ask, the JapaNazis are REAL people.

But more power to 'em for telling women to stay in the kitchen and make babies. Stick with what you know girls. Oh, and before you females leave some nasty comment to this post, those aren't my words, they're Hal Jordans. You know, Green Lantern? Weilder of the most powerful weapon in the universe? So if you've got something to say, take it up with him. I'm sure he'll listen politely to you before giving you a big green bitch slap and telling you to "Put your knickers on and make me a cup of tea, luv."

The All Your Base phenomenon has gotten its claws into everything. The original video appeared here, and has been done to death since it's surfacing back in 2001/2002 or whenever it was. It's an integral part of internet culture though, so you must watch it at least once if you are to be 'accepted'.

Still, a good alternative, that does the same job but in a slightly more melodical fashion, is the All Your Base Rhapsody. Which is worth a watch.
